Sometimes young players with his level of speed and athleticism need to have a governor installed in them early in their career to get them to fit into a team construct but Armstrong played at a good pace, played off his teammates, moved well without the ball and didn’t force things offensively.Īngelo Brizzi - Last on the list is the guy who seemed to create the most buzz among ‘Nova Nation enthusiasts at the Pavilion. Mark Armstrong - Perhaps the most encouraging thing from Armstrong in the scrimmage was the way he has melded into the flow so quickly. His shooting stroke is very solid and he seemed to mesh well with both Angelo Brizzi and Mark Armstrong - playing off both of those guys quite well at times. Longino doesn’t blow you away with quickness or bounce but he is strong, heady, versatile and team-oriented.īrendan Hausen - Oozes basketball - has that “gym rat” persona, plenty of moxie and a nice feel for the game. Jordan Longino - Longino didn’t shoot the ball well but was used offensively in a way which indicates that the staff is comfortable with him as a ball-handler, shooter and initiator of some of the offense from the top of the key. Nnanna Njoku - Njoku demonstrated those strengths to his game which best fit what this team will need from him this season - rebounding, defending, setting solid screens and aggressively finishing at the rim when he gets scoring chances in the paint. Expect consistency and production from Dixon this season as he continues to blossom. He made several nice passes, moved well without the ball, shot the ball well from deep, showed good footwork and shooting touch in the low post, and didn’t force anything. Arcidiacono is a reliable, security blanket option to fill guard minutes.Įric Dixon - Looks to be in the best shape of his career. He understands everything the program needs from him, he plays hard and smart. Expect him to be an on-court leader and more aggressive than ever looking for scoring opportunities on offense.Ĭhris Arcidiacono - Here is another guy who simply gets it.
Slater suffered from some nagging injuries last season which impacted his offensive efficiency / shooting after what was a torrid start to the season for Brandon. Given that, Whitmore and Daniels project as early season starters, a 5-on-5 with two of the starters replaced with two walk-ons yields limited insight into what to expect come the first game of the season.
